Multivalent

Multivalent springs from a concern that once we’ve decided where we stand on an issue, we internalize that information in a way that makes us shut down to the views we disagree with. In this installation the audience is invited to read out loud a speech at a podium. As they read, certain words such as "war", "peace", "love", "hate", trigger protest songs in the space. Live dancer's enter the space responding to the speeches and triggered sounds. At the same time a screen projects images, and questions with answers gathered from audience before entering the space.
